Danielle

Say hi to Danielle who has worked at Strands for 20 years and is a Director of Strands Hairdressing in Whiteley.   She started hairdressing when she was at school helping out in a salon and joined Strands in 2005 at 17 years old.  She completed her Level 1,2 and 3 in Hairdressing and went on to complete her accessors certificate and Redken Colour Certification. Danielle took over the director's role in 2023.

Which hairstyles or colours do you love to create? My favourite thing to do in the salon is Blondes, whether its highlights or balayage. I also love big bouncy blow dries.

What do you love about your job? I love making people great about themselves and having that relationship with so many different people. 

Who inspires you to create fabulous hair?  My clients inspire me to create beautiful hair. When you get to really know a client you understand what they really like and how it makes them feel. If I can make just one client feel great about themselves a day then I'm happy.

What is your ultimate ambition? Now that I have taken over the Whiteley salon my ultimate ambition is to keep the salon being successful and making the dream team that everyone wants to be part of.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?  Productive, busy, consistent.

Tell us something about you that might surprise others.   I'm not sure there is anything about me that would surprise some one, I'm quite boring haha!

Danielle Salon Director
Billy

Our Whiteley Salon director Billy started at Strands Hairdressing in 2009 and worked here for eight years.  He also worked with ghd as part of their artistic team.  While working at London Fashion Week, Billy was offered a job at a London hair salon and worked there for four years.

In 2019, Billy and a friend opened fry+dean hair salon in east London and the salon continues to thrive.  In 2023 Billy became a director of Strands Whiteley alongside Danielle.  

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I love doing blondes, I think being blond and experimental with my own hair I have got a real understanding of tone and product that work and what really doesn’t ! 

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love that hairdressing feels artistic and that you can take your career in so many different ways.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? The big fashion houses set the trends, but, living in east London I’m constantly inspired by what people take from those trends and make their own. 

What is your ultimate ambition? I would like to continue building strong businesses while also finding creative outlets in my own career.

How would you describe yourself in three words? I don’t know!

Billy Salon Director
Brooke

Meet Brooke, our Business Manager at Strands Hairdressing Whiteley, who started as an apprentice in our Hillhead salon when she was 19, working there for nine years.  She also ran a barbershop for four years! 

What do you love about being a manager/front of house?  I love the salon environment it’s a home from home, I love chatting to all the clients and helping create a comfortable space for everyone. 

Who or what inspires you? My daughter.

What is your ultimate ambition? To live a long, happy and healthy life. 

How would you describe yourself in three words? Chatty, empathetic, dependable 

Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I am also a qualified beauty therapist and was once an estate agent.

Brooke Business Manager

Tiffany

Tiffany is an Advanced Senior Stylist at Strands.  She has been hairdressing since 2016 and absolutely loves learning new skills and chatting to her clients.

Which hair colours do you love creating?  I love creating all blondes balayage and full head of foils.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  I love making people feel happy within themselves.

Who inspires you to create great hair?  Working with our Kelly Scott inspiring the world and helping me with my journey and where I am now.

What is your ultimate ambition?  Being able to live a happy life by doing what I love the most.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Friendly, fabulous, caring.

Tell us something about you that might surprise others.  I jumped 15000ft out of an airplane to raise money for charity.

Tiffany Advanced Senior Stylist
Megan

Meet our Advanced Senior Stylist Megan who began her career in hairdressing in 2017.  She began working for Strands at 16 as an apprentice and has enjoyed working her way up the ladder, going on Redken courses and gaining her Redken Hair Colourist Certificate.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I love really doing anything colour related this includes soft blondes to high impact crazy colours, I enjoy this because it’s something I’ve loved since day one. So if you are after anything colour or any big changes book in for a consultation with me! 

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love my clients new or regular and looking after all your hair needs. 

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Making people happy and their hair dreams come true I just love to see people happy and confident. 

What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition would probably to do more education and teaching with colour and spreading my knowledge with others as I love to learn new things. 

How would you describe yourself in three words? Friendly, conscientious and ambitious.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others? Probably not the most surprising but I’m into my sports this includes going to rugby games and some weekends that’s where you’ll see me.

Megan Advanced Senior Stylist

Say howdy to our Advanced Stylist Millie who began her hairdressing career in 2021.  She loves working within this great community and has soaked up lots of knowledge and gained invaluable experience.   

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I absolutely love creating lived-in balayages and creating bright blondes and seamless blends! 

What do you love about being a hairdresser? Making people feel good about themselves! And hearing about other people’s life events and what makes them happy! 

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Redken Insiders community inspires me, learning different techniques to achieve certain looks has definitely inspired me to push myself! 

What is your ultimate ambition? To be Redken Colour Certified, and be well known for content and in the Redken community! 

How would you describe yourself in three words? Chatterbox, Thoughtful, Food Fanatic (especially anything potato or Chinese takeaway)

Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I can never drink a hot cup of tea. It always has to be cold - my grandad got me into it!

Meet our Hairdressing Apprentice Lucy who joined the Strands team in 2023. She's really enjoying colouring and loves working on her skills to become a qualified stylist and colourist. 

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I absolutely love doing colours, seeing the progress from start to finish and seeing how happy and confident the clients feel afterwards.

What do you love about being a hairdresser? Making people feel confident in themselves and being able to be creative.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Those who show their passion through their work.

What is your ultimate ambition? Eventually own my own salons and work on cruise ships.

How would you describe yourself in three words? Smiley, happy, busy.

Say hello to our Hairdressing Apprentice Gabi who has been part of the Strands family since 2021 and, as of 2025 she is in her first year of her apprenticeship.

Which hairstyles or techniques do you love doing?  I particularly enjoy foiling and blow drying.

What do you love about your job?  I enjoy learning new skills and am inspired to create healthy hair. She is ambitious and working hard towards qualifying.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Three words to describe me would be dedicated, friendly and helpful.

Tell us something about you that others might find surprising.  I went to college to do fashion before starting my apprenticeship.

Gabi Salon Assistant

Pauline

Meet Pauline Howe who is the Founder and Director of Strands Hairdressing in Fareham.  Here she answers a few questions so we can get to know her...

How long have you been a stylist? I have been in hairdressing since I was 15 - so a very very long time !  Lots of highs in that time, and hairdressing has given me so many wonderful experiences and opportunities. I've enjoyed trips with Redken, working with and meeting some amazing people and winning industry awards.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love to create? I don’t do clients any more as I love training our young team, but I still do love to do a perm !

What do you love about being a hairdresser? It's not like work - it's lovely to chat and have a good time every day. I love the people you get to meet, and making people feel good. I love it!

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Making people feel good is inspiring.

What is your ultimate ambition? Just to be happy.  So far so good!

How would you describe yourself in three words? Calm, Optimistic, Messy.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others.  I had a cafe called The Hungry Caterpillar that sold 15 flavours of ice cream, but it burnt down.

Wendy

Say hi to our Hillhead Business Manager Wendy who started at Strands over 30 years ago as a beautician. As the business grew, her role changed to 'managing anything and everything except hair.'

What do you love about your role?  There is never a day the same.  I work with some lovely talented people, my boss is my sister so that’s not really like work a lot of the time! It’s sociable and fun.

Who inspires you to do well? The young people I work with inspire me with their fashion and creativity.

What is your ultimate ambition?  My ambition right now is to keep doing what I’m doing until they throw me out!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Annoyingly always right.

Tell us something about you that might surprise others.  I can’t have jigsaw puzzles in the house.

Wendy Business Manager

Freya

Say howdy to our Salon Manager Freya who has been hairdressing for more than 20 years, starting as a Saturday girl at 14 and beginning her hairdressing apprenticeship aged 15.

Tell us about your hairdressing experience so far.  My hairdressing experience so far has been great. I've learnt so much and been on some amazing trips, grown so much in confidence  I started off so shy and nervous and scared to do everything! Over the years I've built up the most amazing clientele, which I'm truly grateful for. 

What do you love about hairdressing? I love being able to make someone feel amazing when they walk out of the salon. 

Which hairstyles or colours do you love to create?  I have the biggest passion for curly hair, I love it! I love helping people feel confident with their curls, I also love foliage. Give me a beautiful blonde any day! 

Who inspires you to create fabulous hair? I love watching all our young stylists come up through the salon and watch them grow their column. I want to continue being a busy stylist and continue to help keep strands as amazing as it is! 

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Loyal, kind and caring.

Tell us something about you that might surprise others. I'm actually an introvert but when I've had a few to drink I think I can dance like Beyoncé.

Becky

Meet Rebecca (Becky), the Salon Manager of Strands Hairdressing in Hillhead who has been in the industry for 25 years. 

Tell us about your hairdressing experience so far.  I have had a great experience so far. I've been on different trips (Vegas) and lots of training courses with hairdressers from all over the world.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I love cutting all hair types with a passion. Change people look or enhancing what they already have. 

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I get to create different looks throughout my day as not everyone one wants the same. I also enjoy teaching techniques to new team members. 

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? My clients - I want them to have the best haircut then can for their hair. 

How would you describe yourself in three words?  Happy, Reliable, Fun.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I enjoy sea swimning and paddle boarding. And I can do a good Tina tribute!

Say hello to Amy, an Advanced Senior Stylist at Strands Hairdressing in Hillhead. Amy has been in the industry for 10 years and says hairdressing is the best thing she has ever done. "I have done many jobs in the past and being a stylist is the only job I have had where I actually love what I do and love coming into work every day!"

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing?  I love creative colouring - balayages and blonding. I love customising each colour to each client. I love doing extensions, giving clients their dream hair is amazing. 

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  I love being able to create bespoke colours/styles depending on each client. Especially after extension & colour clients. Watching them see the result of their new hair is an incredible feeling. 

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I am inspired by my need to give clients an unforgettable experience. I am inspired to perform at my best because I love what I do and people pay a lot of money to see me, and I see it as a privilege to have the opportunity to exceed their expectations.

What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition is to make sure my family are well looked after. I would love to have my own space one day - maybe one day in the future! 

How would you describe yourself in three words? Friendly, honest & caring.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I am a fully qualified cocktail bartender! And I did turn down a career working on a cruise ship to pursue my hairdressing career!

Let us introduce you to our Creative Senior Stylist Jodie who has been in the hairdressing industry since 2011. 

Tell us about your hairdressing experience so far.  I have absolutely loved my hairdressing experience from when I started my apprenticeship, I feel very grateful in working with an amazing team. Strands has build a family environment it’s so lovely to be apart of! 

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I am completely obsessed with blondes and adding in dimension to lived in hair, I find it creative and therapeutic.

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I'm a passionate hair dresser who absolutely loves what I do! The creativity involved in transforming someone’s look is something I’ll never get bored of. I especially enjoy the artistry of coloring hair, as it allows me to make my clients feel confident and beautiful.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? As a hairdresser, my clients are my priority. They inspire me to create fabulous hair that makes them feel confident. I'm passionate about delivering the best results and making each client's experience truly special.

What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition as a hairdresser is to continuously learn, grow, and push my creativity and to also to inspire others and make a lasting impact on the industry

How would you describe yourself in three words? Mad, creative, crazy chicken lover.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others?  My love for Johnny cash and I have pet chickens 🐓

Say hello to our hairdressing apprentice Lilly-Rose who joined the Strands family in 2024 and is learning the skills required to become a qualified stylist. 

Which styles do you absolutely love doing?  I love doing an acidic gloss treatment followed by a blow dry then finished with a ghd straighter curl to see the perfect gloss in the hair.

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love contributing to making people feel good about themselves.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Hair has always fascinated me from a young age. It’s amazing what you can create with hair. My Nan inspired me when I was younger as she owned her very own hair salon.

What is your ultimate ambition? To progress more in my career so I can become a professional stylist. 

How would you describe yourself in three words? Creative, chilled, ambitious.
